f you have rented a home in Nags Head, you are free to use your drone on the home’s private property only. However, be sure to check with your rental agent prior to any drone operations.You may operate your drone on the public beach, but it must be in accordance with all FAA umaanned aircraft system regulations. All drones, if not already marked with federal or state identification, must be identified with the owner’s name and address, or Academy of Model Aeronautics number.Since motel and hotel property is considered private property, your only restriction is to check with the property owner prior to any drone use.

You must receive prior approval from Nags Head’s town manager to operate your drone over any Town of Nags Head-owned property. Requests for approval from Nags Head’s town manager must include proof of required state and federal permits as appropriate and must be made by contacting 252-441-5508.
If you are a videographer who has been hired by a vendor to provide aerial drone footage of an event on Town-owned property, please keep in mind that the Town, as part of the approval process, will require proof of the appropriate North Carolina and Federal permits for commercial drone operations.
